Please note that there will be a math quiz on whole numbers and place value next Friday October 6. I have attached links to the study guide and a letter explaining what students should know. We corrected POW #2 today in class. The expectation is that all students have tried the questions before class on Thursday. I was pleased to see that almost all students had made a very good effort on these difficult word problems. - We will work to make sure that all students are able to log in and play games on the prodigy website in tomorrow's class. It was wonderful to see so many of you last week at our "Meet the Teacher" evening. Parent teacher interviews will be held on November 16 and 17. I look forward to discussing student progress with each of you at that time. This week in French we continue are continuing to build conversation skills. Students have learned how to introduce themselves and to ask various simple questions. They are also able to speak in the 3rd person in French and have introduced other classmates using complete sentences. In Math we are working with place value as well as refining our problem solving skills. P.O.W. #2 was assigned today and is due this Thursday.pow_2.doc Please remind your child that there is help for homework every Tuesday at lunch in room M105. In Flex the students have been discovered their personal learning styles using a multiple intelligence quiz. We are now using this personalized information to set learning goals for this term. We will also be reading a Kenneth Oppel book called "The Boundless." during flex time. We are very fortunate to have this author coming for a school visit next month. Have a great week! We are in full swing with Intensive French in 5A. I hope your children have had a chance to share some of what they have learned with you at home. Here are some updates and reminders for this week. 1. Math homework is due this Thursday (P.O.W. -Problem of the week #1) 2. Homework help is available to all grade 5's every Tuesday at lunch in my classroom. (M-105) 3. Meet the teacher evening is this Thursday September 21. I hope to see you there. 4. Bonjour parents, Please see the attached link for Pink Week activities. The school dance is tomorrow - Thursday, September 14. Tickets are $2.00 and proceeds go to Run for the Cure. Alternate activities will be available. Math: Students are working through a place value sheet that went home on Monday. We will review daily and then correct together at the end of the week. French: Students are learning how to use complete sentences in French to talk about themselves. I have been extremely impressed with the effort and enthusiasm of the students in 5A! Bravo!
